What's the Realistic ROI Timeline for a Credit Union Implementing HubSpot?

What's the Realistic ROI Timeline for a Credit Union Implementing HubSpot?

Quick answer: most credit unions see efficiency-driven ROI (cost savings, automation) within 4-6 months, and revenue-driven ROI (loan growth, cross-sell) within 7-12 months, assuming proper data integration and onboarding support from the start. The exact timeline depends on your institution. This is because credit unions vary widely in size, tech stack, and internal bandwidth, so a single universal number isn't realistic. Here's the pattern we most commonly see, phase by phase.

Why Credit Union Data Integration Is Not a Technical Problem; It’s An Organizational One.

Why Credit Union Data Integration Is Not a Technical Problem; It’s An Organizational One.

At Geear, we’ve done over 60+ HubSpot implementations and data integration projects with credit unions. The majority of these integrations go smoothly. The data lands in HubSpot as expected in the expected timeframe. But, as is the case with many large-scale data migrations, issues can arise causing the integration to take longer than you’d hope or expect. Our years of experience have exposed a trend. And while most attention is usually placed on the technology used in the integration, we’ve found that organizational alignment is the most common reason integrations stall or fail altogether.

How Credit Unions Can Improve Their Visibility in AI LLMs

How Credit Unions Can Improve Their Visibility in AI LLMs

A recent study by Geear found that consumers under 45 use Large Language Models (LLMs) as the second-most-used channel when researching financial institutions, trailing only search engines. As tools like Gemini, Claude, and ChatGPT become more widely adopted, credit union and bank marketers are naturally asking: "How do we ensure our brand appears in these results?"

Optimizing your brand's presence in an LLM is known as Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) or Answer Engine Optimization (AEO).

While SEO has 25 years of established data, GEO is still in its infancy. Methods can seem "fuzzy," but our experiments at Geear are revealing what actually moves the needle for AI visibility. Here is how the strategy is evolving.

How Under-45 Consumers Decide Which Financial Institution Is “Best” (and Why Credit Unions Lose Non-Members but Can Win Primary Status)

How Under-45 Consumers Decide Which Financial Institution Is “Best” (and Why Credit Unions Lose Non-Members but Can Win Primary Status)

The data referenced below is from research conducted by Geear among 1,000 customers on their banking preferences. The survey was conducted end of 2025. The data below is sourced from a Geear study involving 1,000 customers, which investigated their banking preferences. This research was completed at the end of 2025.

Summary:
  • Under-45 non-members default to traditional banks for nearly every high-priority factor (customer service, accessibility, branches, variety, community), while online-only banks win the digital experience categories (mobile app, online experience). Credit unions do not lead a single factor in 2022 or 2025 for this segment (per the slide’s “most often rated as best”).
  • Credit unions gain ground once someone is already a CU member, but not primary (Non-PFI): in 2025, credit unions become “best” for customer service, and also lead on variety of offerings and financial education. While online-only banks remain “best” for mobile app and online experience.
  • Primary credit union relationships (PFI) are strong, but no longer safe: in 2025, online-only banks match credit unions for “best” accessibility and continue to dominate “best” online experience; credit unions still lead most human/community factors.
  • Surprising insight: In the Non-PFI segment, traditional banks are rated “least often as best” for mobile app in 2025. A sign that even “big banks” can lose perceived digital leadership if the experience lags or expectations rise.
  • The strategic takeaway: Credit union growth in under-45 audiences is a two-front strategy. (1) break the “big bank default” among non-members, and (2) defend PFI members from online-only competitors by upgrading the accessibility and mobile moments that shape everyday satisfaction.

Why You May Never See Your Credit Union’s Awareness Ads

Why You May Never See Your Credit Union’s Awareness Ads

Measuring the success of a digital ad campaign depends on several factors, including the purpose of the campaign, who you’re trying to reach, and the outcomes you want to influence. But one thing it should not be measured by is whether or not you, personally, are seeing the ads.
