What’s your content scrap rate? Picture this familiar scenario: a subject matter expert on your team explains the same process on a sales call for the fiftieth time, and it never gets written down. That expertise is scrap.

The best time to start was yesterday. The next best time is now. Teams are stretched thin, with 58% of B2B marketers saying they lack the internal resources to produce the volume of content their marketing strategy demands.

We’re at a crossroads:

Stop staring at a blank page. Let’s get to work with what we already have.

Your content topics already exist

Cue the Jeopardy host: 'In the form of a question, please'. Your buyers have asked questions, your current customers have asked questions.

Look for topics in your existing interactions:

  • RFQs
  • Support tickets
  • Sales rep emails
  • Trade show conversations
  • Reddit threads
  • Website chat questions
  • Google Search Console queries

Now for the fun part. Build categories so we can slice this content and extrapolate it with ease. Categorize by product and maybe use case: is this a question about what, how, when, or why?

  • Product A: We frequently get questions about what and when.
  • Product B: We frequently get questions about how and why

As you continue to build this tracking, the gaps expose themselves.

Capture the answer once

Once you've gathered the full scope of what's frequently asked about Product A, it's time to schedule an interview.

A recorded 15-minute conversation with a subject matter expert is a wealth of information. Ask the questions you've been seeing, then round out the full view of Product A with prompts like the ones below. Here's the strategy hidden in plain sight: each group of questions points toward a different kind of content.

Clear up misconceptions (strong for FAQs and GEO content)

  • What's a question you're tired of answering?
  • What's the most common reason a customer picks the wrong option?

Spark ideas (fuel for LinkedIn posts and case studies)

  • What's the most unusual application you've seen for this product?
  • What's the most common problem a buyer is trying to solve with this product?

Address cost and risk (strong for sales enablement, especially for executive and procurement buyers)

  • What tradeoffs should a buyer understand before choosing?
  • What causes the most downtime related to this product?
  • What's a hidden cost buyers don't consider upfront?

The recording itself becomes your first (internal) asset.

Build the master answer

Polish up the transcript on all things Product A and turn it into one validated, accurate source answer. Get your subject matter expert to sign off.

A bad mold makes bad parts at scale. Accurate, thorough knowledge like this not only fuels the marketing team, but supports AI tools as well. Just like you build a custom GPT, or manage AI context in HubSpot, this source material has mileage.

Shape the individual parts

This is where your marketing upcycle brain really activates — and where your use of AI tools can really be the relief valve for the pressure to create.

If you’re on HubSpot, this is where Marketing Studio’s Campaign Agent could really shine.

Website
  • Expand product page copy where appropriate, or expand the listed FAQs and add comparison tables.
  • Add some of these questions to your knowledge base for your chat bot to reference.
  • Grab specific Google Search Console queries or RFQ questions and build content targeted for SEO or GEO.

Sales Enablement
  • Connect with the Sales team on these answers. How many could be turned into email snippets or nurture emails.
  • Update existing assets with your newly-refined master answer.

Social Media & Video

  • Consider upcycling part of the interview into short video clips, either with camera footage or stock photography overlay.
  • Draft a LinkedIn post for leadership to share, speaking directly to buyers.

Email Marketing
  • Consider which parts of the interview speak to which stage of the buyer’s journey. An email nurture campaign is the most critical spot to marry the buyer's journey with the right content.

Start the process all over again

The next questions to dive into are surfaced by the email replies, the LinkedIn comments, or the follow up chatbot question.

Are your answers showing up?

You've done the work: real customer questions, expert-validated answers, and content built to be found. But when a buyer asks ChatGPT one of those questions, does your answer make it into the response?

A GEO visibility audit shows you how often you appear in AI answers, what those tools say about you when you do, and which competitors get recommended instead.

Curious what your prospects hear when they ask?
